This is a special edition of Lolita's Newsletter, a bi-weekly newsletter of curated actionable insights and resources for underestimated founders, funders, and friends.
🥳 Today, I want to share some AWESOME NEWS: we launched Ganas Ventures, an early-stage traditional 506c fund investing in Web 2 and Web 3 community-driven startups in the US and Latin America!
Thank you for believing in me and for inspiring me to be the best version of myself, as a community investor, curator, and member!
I 100% believe that if we work together and support each other, we can create generational wealth in community. And not just for the sake of money but for the sake of honoring all the sacrifices of all those who have come before us, paying it forward, and giving our families and our community the opportunity to live our best lives!
And because we're a community-driven fund, we want to invite the community to join the Ganas Ventures family!
Accredited founders, funders, and friends: I invite you all to learn more about my fund in my Mirror blog post and Techcrunch feature, and, if you believe in my hustle and want to diversify your investment portfolio with a Latina investing in both the US & Latin America, let me know that you’re interested in investing in Ganas here.
For all other founders, funders, and friends: I invite you all to learn more about my fund here and, if you're not accredited, the form will let you know and invite you to our Ganas Mentor family.
Web 2 & 3 community-driven co-founder fam: I invite you to submit your company for investment consideration for Ganas here.
Why did you choose the traditional 506c structure for your fund?
I think a traditional 506c fund makes a lot of sense for community-driven investors. The 506c formation allows you to publicly invite the community to be LPs in the fund, and the traditional fund structure means all LPs will have the same returns on their investments (by contrast, the LPs in a rolling fund might have substantially different returns based on the quarters in which they subscribed). Larger institutional LPs are also more comfortable with traditional fund structures, so a traditional fund makes sense for GPs like me that want to continue to grow and raise additional larger funds in the future.
How will you choose who gets invited into the Ganas LP family?
While inviting community members to our Ganas LP family, we will look at:
accreditation because you need to be accredited to become an LP
size of committed check because we need to stay within the SEC LP limit
skill-sets, expertise, and background because we want to lean on our LPs to succeed
representation because we want to our LP community to represent the new face of venture capital
Where can I meet the existing Ganas LP family?
You can meet our Ganas Featured Committed LP fam members here.
Makeup: unicorn founders, family fund office leaders, trailblazing VCs, and community-driven friends
Demographics: 41% Latino, 26% White, 26% Asian, 7% Black; 63% Men, 37% women
