Joe Valdez - molecular and cell biologist/business leader - focus on analytical technologies and precision medicine. Successful R&D leader with a $200M exit in a start-up out of Houston, worked at GE Healthcare, Neogenomics, Natera Agilent and developed multiple partnerships with pharma, academia and more. Currently at Bruker supporting precision cellular analyses with single cell resolution - look forward to supporting the development of the next wave of biologics and cellular therapies!
Robyn Schlicher, PhD - bioengineer/molecular biologist/business leader with a focus on novel diagnostics, biomarkers and targeted therapy. I've spent 20 years working on new technologies to combine engineering, life sciences, business and healthcare. I worked at Abbott Labs, Danaher, helped launch Signatera for Natera and developed/launched ResponderID (AI/ML biomarker identification). But I'm best known for being an expert in advanced imaging (confocal, super res, spectroscopy, electron microscopy). I love the working at the intersection of technology, business and healthcare
HOW DID YORKSEED GET STARTED IN SXSW AUSTIN 2023?
Hi, I’m Jessica! I created the viral list of unofficial SXSW 2023 events that didn’t require a badge, all during a 3-hour train ride from NYC to DC. I promoted it in Austin with a QR code on my outfit, and it became a huge hit! This led me to host a sold-out Founders x Investors Mixer with just an hour of planning.
Inspired by this success, I launched Yorkseed, building on my Earth Day Charity Brunch and an exclusive WhatsApp community I formed after SXSW. Now, we have over 1,000 vetted investors and founders in NYC and thousands of members across 20 global hubs. Our newsletter, has thousands of subscribers worldwide, including Angels, VCs, GP/LP, Family Fund Officers, Head of Trade Offices, Founders from Early to IPO. We’ve hosted exclusive events in 5 countries and Sydney would be our 6th! Currently we are local partners for the Founder Institute in NYC and more! Read more!
