About Event

"Such a refreshing change from a typical networking event"

Make friends and do work in a joyful community space!

Soapbox Project is back at it — we're a third place for climate solutions, and we want to connect, learn, and take action with you.

Here's what to expect for our August community building & coworking hours. Mainly, we will include some fun facilitation, so you will actually get to know people! (Instead of, you know, walking into the event, not knowing whom to talk to, and pretending you need to be on your phone)

  • Who: climate professionals or climate-curious citizens who are looking for a place to make friends with others struggling with climate anxiety and/or pursuing climate work

  • What: 1 hour of facilitated non-icky networking followed by 2 hours of open work time that's loosely structured around goals (e.g. one table for finding a job, one for silent accountability, one for grants, etc.)

  • Where: Indigo Slate (which also has a few meeting rooms if you need to take a call)

  • When: Every other August from 1:30-4:30 PM; schedule is below

  • Why: Climate anxiety and loneliness suck (especially if you work remote) and meeting other climate friends = big brain climate solutions

  • Bring: Stuff you need to get your work done (laptop, charger, notebook, pen, etc.) and we will have snacks and coffee/tea/beverages

As our friend Spencer said, "This was networking in a way that felt authentic and kind and helpful. It was effective — people happily coming together to support one another" so please arrive on time (by 1:45) if you want a dose of the magic!

What our work party will look like

  • 1:30-1:45 | settle in. Please try to arrive by 1:45 if you want to be here for the community building piece.

  • 1:45-2:30 | non-icky networking in small groups — you'll be able to share your hopes and dreams and get your wishes granted (ok but actually, this is not a joke)

  • 2:30-2:45 | break + shifting over to community coworking stations

  • 2:45-4:15 | focused work time (or whatever your table wants to do)

  • 4:15-4:30 | wrap up

Important notes

Please arrive by 1:45 if you want to come for the community building piece. Otherwise, you can come around 2:30 for just coworking.

Location
Indigo Slate
316 2nd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104, USA
Please arrive by 1:45 if you're coming for the facilitated community building piece. After that, the doors will be locked, but we'll post a contact number on the door.
