Art in the Forest: The Big "Ahhh" Forest Immersion Walk
ART IN THE FOREST WALK – August 11, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. Vancouver Time
“We are inspired by nature, moved to emotion by it, and have attempted to capture its essence in our own works. It's only natural that we are moved by nature to create art.
Ephemeral art is a work of art that only lasts for a short amount of time, usually occurs once, and cannot be embodied in any lasting object. The beauty of ephemeral nature art is that we realize that not everything we value has to be material. Not everything we create has to be taken home or even returned to, the process of making art can be fulfilling on its own. Creating ephemeral art teaches us about the impermanence of life and nature. Some of the most beautiful things such as a winterscape or a sunset aren’t permanent. More than an image seen with our eyes, ephemeral artwork is capturing an actual moment in time.
To create a work in nature first tune into the environment mentally, physically and emotionally-listen, observe and then as you are drawn to natural materials express yourself as you create. Take the materials around you and reweave them back into the environment in a creative manner and leave them to return to nature or be found by a fellow explorer.”
Create ephemeral art using things that nature provides, then leave them in the forest so the next person can find and enjoy the art you created. It's beautiful, delicate and temporary. Guided by a certified Nature Therapy Guide, Grace Baker, C.Med, and artist Christine Kashuba.
The walk begins at 6:00 p.m. on August 11, 2022 at the south end of the Barriere River Walk, Barriere, BC. This walk will help refresh you, improves your connection with nature and also helps you relax and enjoy nature in new ways. This is not exercise or a workshop about trees. This is just a slow guided stroll beside a river that relaxes and improves wellness. Your guide, Grace Baker, C.Med., will give you invitations to:
· Make a repeating pattern art form from items collected on the walk
· Weave It & Leave It
· The Beauty of Nature’s Crown
The walk will be followed by a group tea made from items collected on our walk made in rocking tea pots. Additional flavours of tea will also be available. The walk is approximately 1.5 hours long… a little longer if we get chatting afterwards.
The fee for the walk is $49 per person. Please use the coupon code EGOWU0 if you are a medical care provider (nurse, doctor, care aide, etc.) or a member of a crisis team (fire, police, ambulance, etc.). This will entitle you to attend the walk at no charge.

If you fall in love with the idea of art making with nature, there is an option to participate in an additional session with Christine before the walk at the Solar Printing Art Workshop.
Solar Printing Art Workshop: Art-Making in Nature
Join in the fun and learn about cyanotypes-solar printing at 4:30 p.m. on August 11, 2022 at the Kissing Trees on the Barriere River Walk, Barriere, BC. You don’t need to be able to paint or draw. The process is relatively simple, and all that is required is the sensitized paper or fabric that you will be provided, the sun or other light source, and water for part of the process. For our afternoon in the forest, we will collect plant material, stones etc. to create a design. We will then expose your design using the sun. You will be supported throughout the process by artist Christine Kashuba and be able to create an 8.5” x 11” piece as well as a smaller practice piece. Let's explore art making in nature! Cost per person for this workshop is $25 which includes materials.
Registration is required by August 8, 2022 if you are attending in person and by August 5 if you are attending online as we will need to send you some supplies. The link to register is through our booking service Luma (sister company to Zoom): https://lu.ma/14j99r9t
You will also receive future emails from Luma so please include us as a contact so that you don’t miss updates. If you don’t love technology, please feel free to call or email me directly and we will get you registered that way.
Can’t wait to do this with you. It’s going to be so much fun!
