Youth Mental Health Association (YMHA)’s upcoming event, Transition Talks: Career Exploration, will be held on February 23rd from 5:00PM to 6:00PM on Zoom. This event is open to all secondary school students who have questions for university graduates regarding university life, the transition from high school to university or from university to graduate school/workforce, how to choose a career path while prioritizing mental health and wellbeing, etc.

Transition Talks: Career Exploration

"Speak Your Mind," hosted by Youth Mental Health Association (YMHA), is a virtual conference designed to spread awareness and empower youth to take action in removing the stigma surrounding mental health. This will be an approximately 1.5 hour event taking place online via Zoom, where youth have the opportunity to discuss the role that mental health can play in our everyday lives. In addition, we are hoping to feature two speakers from various backgrounds, including mental health organizations and mental health advocates. 

We will also host breakout sessions for student leaders who are actively taking action in their communities to brainstorm more ideas for continuing to create change and in becoming an advocate for mental health. By engaging youth to act, we hope to keep the conversation going and ensure that every voice is heard. This virtual conference is open to all with a target on youth leaders.

Q&A: BC University

We understand that high school students entering their first year of college or university may be particularly vulnerable to mental health challenges. Many first-year students struggle with their transition from secondary school, a smaller and familiar environment in which they spent a large part of their childhood, to university or college, a larger and unfamiliar environment that poses new challenges. The anxiety of entering university or college, combined with large workloads and a lack of a support system, can often contribute to a deterioration in mental health.

Our upcoming event, Transition Talks: Maintaining Mental Health in University, will provide incoming post-secondary students with information about mental health resources that are available to them as they transition into college or university. Representatives from mental health organizations will share information about the resources that they offer to post-secondary students in Ontario. This event will take place online via Zoom on May 5th, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, and is open to all high school students, their families, and everyone else interested in learning about where post-secondary students can seek mental health support.

Transition Talks: maintaining your mental health in university

We understand that this is a stressful time for high school students who are looking to apply to university, as they may have many unanswered questions regarding university and could benefit from connecting with current university students. So, YMHA’s Ontario Expansion Team is excited to announce that we will be hosting an Ontario University Admissions Q&A on Saturday, November 27th at 5 PM via Zoom! 

This event is open to all high school students and is designed to give students the opportunity to ask university students any questions they may have, such as the university admissions process, the transition from high school to university, and all other related topics. Please note, this event is not affiliated with the universities themselves, nor is it sponsored or endorsed by them.
