I will be presenting work coauthored with Dr. Melissa Savage (UNT). The poster is titled, "Physical fitness and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities: A mixed-methods analysis on the effects of an adapted fitness program".

Attendance is limited to those that register for the 2022 SHAPE America conference in New Orleans. However, for those that register, I will share the poster and abstract directly.

I'll also be available to answer questions for guests.

Welcome to the fourth lecture of the Disability, Movement, Etcetera series. Today’s guest is Lydia X. Z. Brown. Lydia is an advocate, organizer, educator, attorney, strategist, and writer. Their work focuses on addressing state and interpersonal violence targeting disabled people living at the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality, faith, language, and nation. They are Policy Counsel for Disability Rights and Algorithmic Fairness for the Privacy and Data Project at the Center for Democracy and Technology, and Director of Policy, Advocacy, and External Affairs for the Autistic Women and Nonbinary Network.

Welcome to the third lecture of the Disability, Movement, Etcetera series. Today’s guest is Elayne Otstot. Elayne (she/her) aspiring disability advocate in the southeastern US, who's passionate about using multiple platforms and methods to educate people about disability access and inclusion; and health disparities affecting rural, disabled, and other vulnerable or marginalized communities. She holds a graduate certificates in disability policy from Loyola Law School and American University, and a bachelor’s degree in public health from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Disability, Movement, Etcetera #3 – Elayne Otstot

Welcome to the second lecture of the Disability, Movement, Etcetera series. Today’s guest is Syren Nagakyrie. Syren (they/them) is an activist, writer, consultant, and outdoor enthusiast. As the founder of Disabled Hikers, they have become a leading advocate and expert voice in making the outdoors more inclusive and accessible for the disabled community and others that are underrepresented. 

Disability, Movement, Etcetera #2 – Syren Nagakyrie

Welcome to the first official lecture of the Disability, Movement, Etcetera series. Today’s guest is Lillie Lainoff. Lillie received her B.A. in English from Yale University, where she was a varsity fencer and one of the first physically disabled athletes to individually qualify for any NCAA Championship event. She has also won the 2019 LA Review Literary Award for Short Fiction, was a featured Rooted in Rights disability activist, and is the founder of Disabled Kidlit Writers on Facebook. She is currently an MA candidate in Creative Writing Prose Fiction at the University of East Anglia, and lives in Washington, D.C.
