[POSTPONED]: Design Thinking for a Sustainable Future
We regret to inform you that we have to postpone the Designing for Sustainability event due to the incoming tropical storm Francine with a travel restriction advisory. The safety and well-being of our participants is our top priority. We are working diligently to reschedule the event and will announce a new date as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to reconvening in the near future to share thoughts on this crucial topic.
The Design Thinking and Innovation group is participating in Houston’s Energy and Climate Week. We are dedicating this event to bring awareness on sustainability and importance of designing solutions keeping the future of our climate and earth in mind. We want to bring the focus towards the impact considerations while developing human centered design of products, services and processes. Supporting this initiative are our partner communities HUXPA, IXDA, HDAO and Side Project Society.
We are honored to have Roger Rohatgi, VP and Global head of Design, BP, supporting us in this initiative and sharing a keynote on the vision and practical use cases for sustainable design and insights on developing sustainable energy.
Roger leads the design and change team at bp that is supercharging human experience design (HXD) to help reimagine energy for people and our planet. His passion for HXD has led to the creation of the first bp design discipline and design system to drive digital circularity across the company, as well as the introduction of an award-winning sustainable design approach. Over his 25-year career, Roger has created compelling user interfaces (UI) and engaging user experiences (UX) for top brands, and he has won numerous accolades, including an international film award. Roger is a University of Houston alumni and Valenti School of Communications advisory board member.
You'll then have an opportunity to learn and apply sustainable design thinking yourself as part of a workshop, where participants will learn to collaboratively explore and develop innovative solutions to develop sustainable solutions. The sustainability workshop will be facilitated by Mitchell Ramirez, co-lead for bp's global sustainability network and senior experience designer.
The event will conclude with a networking session, providing an opportunity to connect with industry leaders, innovators, and like-minded professionals dedicated to advancing design and sustainable energy practice.
