SLASHIE SUMMIT⚡️May 17-18th⚡️SHOPIFY NY
Slashies, we’re back for the fifth year on Friday, May 17th + Saturday, May 18th, 2024 in partnership with @ShopifyNY at their iconic SoHo location in New York City!⚡️
At this year's first-ever two-day summit, we’re paying homage to our network of entrepreneurs and founders who work for themselves, have started a business, or want to pursue one of their own.
The epitome of a slashie is one who is multifaceted, wears multiple hats during the day and night, but enjoys pursuing their passion project or side hustle the most. Keeping that in mind, we’re coming back stronger than ever with a more refined summit experience that is centered around small businesses.
In true Slashie fashion, we continue to build the summit with a community over competition mindset and want to honor our journey with a focus on those who’ve started something of their own. Whether you’re in the infancy stage, entering your *small business founder* era or raising capital for your start-up idea, we’ve got you covered.
This year’s summit — the small business edition — is meant to cover the journey of current and future entrepreneurs. With fewer panels, more time for networking and targeted workshops, we hope to honor those who’ve taken a number of risks to pursue their passions as businesses.
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Slashie Summit is a collaborative, inclusive and immersive summit that empowers hustlers, doers and creators to uncover their purpose and achieve financial independence despite the stigma behind creative aspirations.
WHO IS A SLASHIE?
Slashies are generally members of the millennial demographic, who choose to include various ‘side hustles’ in their professional titles to which they devote their time—in addition to their nine-to-five.
Our community thrives when more creative minds and independently-led companies join the conversation, and that’s why we ourselves are Slashies. We are a group of South Asian Slashies who celebrate "non-traditional" career paths and seek to redefine professional success.
The summit is an inclusive space welcoming male allies, gender non-conforming, queer, and transgender individuals of South Asian and Asian American descent.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After four years of building our community digitally through SlashieConnects.com and just in time for Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Small Business Month, Slashie Summit is back at a time when creatives and entrepreneurs need connection the most over the course of two days (first day will consist of panels & the second will be a marketplace filled with small businesses).
We’re looking forward to hosting 400+ South Asian Slashies in New York City on May 17th & 18th. This two-day experience will bring together hundreds of creatives, entrepreneurs, pioneers, and go-getters in their desire to build a safe, inclusive and supportive community for folks who aspire to live a multifaceted life.

FAQs:
What do I need to bring?
Aside from your enthusiasm to learn and meet new people, please bring your ticket (printed or mobile is fine) and valid photo/state ID.
P.S. The venue has tight security and all attendees must present a photo I.D. to gain access, so don’t forget yours!
What should I wear?
We have a stacked agenda and a full day of learning, networking, and fun, so we encourage you to keep it cute and comfortable with a hint of Indo-Western (and check the weather, so you’re prepared)!
Where should I stay?
We have a hotel room block at the Moxy Times Square, sign up here!
How do I get to the summit?
We always suggest public transportation first due to SoHo traffic. We have the B,D,F,M at Broadway/Lafayette, the R, W at Prince and the 6 at Bleeker. Our partners and guests usually use the SpotHero App for lots. We do have Alt Side parking in front of the space (No Parking M-F 8 AM-6 PM). Then there's meter parking on Prince and Broadway.
Will you feed me?
Creativity calls for fuel! We have all our Slashie needs in mind for grub and will be providing breakfast, lunch, snacks and dessert at during both days at the summit. We’ll also provide our Slashie Social guests with small bites, beer, wine and dessert! A big thanks to our food/beverage partners — to be announced soon.
Why are tickets non-refundable?
In order for Slashie Summit to be a positive experience for all, ticket sales are vital to ensure all panels, programming and networking opportunities are planned with a final headcount so each attendee receives the best possible experience. While tickets are non-refundable, we are happy to transfer your ticket from one slashie to another — please send us an email so we can sort this out seamlessly.
Will you sell tickets at the door?
Depending on the number of tickets sold, the venue's limitations on space, we may open tickets sold at the door, but it will be a game time decision.
Will you take photos and videos of me?
By entering the event premises, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by Brown Girl Magazine, Inc and its affiliates and representatives.
