About YENFORTHEWHY by Designer Saiyana Suzumura:
YENFORTHEWHY is my way to communicate what my words
cannot, to reach those visually if I never have the chance to
reach them verbally.
My name is Saiyana Suzumura AKA Yen. Grew up in South Seattle and raised in a multi cultural community, my own home raising us in Afro and Asiatic culture. Clothing, to me, transcends only equating to vanity. It is a uniform to your narrative, who you are, what you represent, and who your community is. I’m inspired by my own community, which pushes me to create clothes that could encapsulate what it feels like to be us, we, them, you, me.
