About Event

We're joining a food rescue ride with Cascade Bicycle Club! On Sunday, they team up with the Pedaling Relief Project and Food Not Bombs Emerald City to become a joyful bike brigade that rides to Ballard PCC and Fremont PCC, rescuing food that nourishes our community at the SODO food bank pop-up. Cascade Bicycle Club teaches the joys of bicycling, advocates for safe places to ride, and produces world-class rides and events. Let's get outside enjoy the sunshine and bring food justice to Seattle.

Soapbox Project is a third place, hosting events every Tuesday for climate solutions and community building. But we also want to get together and do things outside of Tuesdays.

  • Who: Anyone with a bike who knows how to ride it!

  • Where: Ballard PCC

  • When: 10:00 AM

  • What: Here's the plan:

    • The 8.8-mile route is a biker's dream - it's mostly downhill and runs along serene bike lanes and separated bike trails. Check out the scenic path on Ride With GPS. They maintain a community-friendly pace of 8 to 10 miles an hour. If anyone lags, no worries! They always regroup to ensure everyone’s together.

      • The Ride Recipe:

        • 10:15am: Assemble & load up bikes with donations. Our ride co-leads and other experienced volunteers will guide us!

        • 10:30am - 10:45am: Ride as a group from Ballard PCC ➡️ Fremont PCC. Every pedal counts!

        • 11:15am: Group ride to SODO's pop-up food bank. We're better together, so we'll regroup along the way.

        • 11:45am - Noon: The grand finale! Deliver those precious donations to the SODO food bank popup, ready to nurture families in need.

  • Why: Rescuing food is a great way to ensure that perfectly good food doesn't go to waste and instead brings nourishment to those that need it.

  • Bring:

    • Your trusty bike & helmet.

    • A lock & mask (Pedal safe, stay safe!).

    • Backpack, bike bag, basket, trailer, or any other means to carry 20+ pounds of love! Need extra space? Cascade Bicycle Club has Burley Flatbed trailers can house 100+ pounds. Curious if it's compatible with your bike? Find out!

Lastly, you'll need to register through the Cascade Bicycle Club's online form to be officially signed up for the event. Do that here:
