​DEV | WRITERS | RETREAT is a first-of-its-kind experiment in pushing forward the state of coders-who-write and writers-who-code, hosted in one magical week from Nov 7 to 11th in Miami, Florida.

​Purpose

​We believe that writing is an incredibly powerful way to organize thought, transfer knowledge, entertain millions, create luck and learn in public — and we believe that humans are social creatures that work best when they can get support from others doing the same thing.

​Whether you write for work as a professional developer advocate, or for fun as an experienced dev, or for learning as a founder or newcomer, we believe that we can improve and learn from our fellow writers!

​Formats & Schedule

​You can take part in 2 ways:

• ​Intensive + Unconference (5 days, Mon-Fri) $500

• ​Unconference (Friday 11 Nov only) $100. Late bird tickets are $150 after 10/31.

​All participants also get a copy of swyx's Handbook (worth $59).

​Each day from Monday to Thursday, we will follow a semi-structured program:

• ​Morning: Talks, workshops, brainstorms (full schedule coming soon!)

• ​Afternoon: Free (for focused writing or remote work, up to you!)

​Monday: Goal setting, inspiration, aspiration
Tuesday: Topic choice + Formats
Wednesday: Editing + Craftsmanship
Thursday: Marketing your Work + Tactics

​Friday is graduation day - a mass publish event and an Unconference where we share what we worked on, what we learned, and what's next.

​Logistics & Pricing

​Dev | Writers | Retreat is a not-for-profit, community effort by Michelle Bakels (co-organizer of React Miami) and swyx (Editor, DX.tips). We will charge enough to cover program costs and take sponsorships for the Friday unconference, but you will be responsible for arranging flight/accommodations on your own.
