​Get to Know Our Speakers

​Sam Saffron is the Co-founder and Co-CEO of Discourse where he also leads their AI team. Before joining Discourse 10 years ago he was a developer at Stack Overflow.

Venessa Paech is an internationally regarded online community expert and educator. She has been engaged by numerous organisations including Lonely Planet, REA Group, Envato and Australia Post. Consulting clients include Teach for Australia, Beyond Blue, SANE, the Federal Government and more.

In 2009 Venessa founded Australian Community Managers (ACM), the national centre of excellence for online community management training and resources. She is a published academic, lecturer, and PhD Candidate (University of Sydney) studying the impacts of AI on community management.

​Michael Batko is the CEO at Startmate, the epicentre for startup ambition across Australia & New Zealand, and Founder of Puddle Pod, a productivity course and community.

​Previously Michael started following the traditional path into the corporate life (Amex, PwC, KPMG), but then fell in love with the startup world. He grew two start-ups from a team of 2 to 5 (madpaws.com.au) and 10 to 50+ (expert360.com), including a $13M Series B capital raise.
