About Event

The Vancouver AI Community Meetups welcome all those interested in the future of AI – researchers, artists, geeks, enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, experts, students and more!

Tech rebels, dream architects, neural navigators - we gather under the cosmic dome of the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre not just to talk about AI, but to actively shape the narrative of human-machine collaboration. This isn't another tech meetup - it's a gathering of the tribes, a convergence of souls brave enough to ask: What does it mean to be human in an age of artificial minds?

I've spent the last year deep in the machine dreams, teaching AIs to paint with light, to speak in many tongues, to amplify human creativity rather than replace it. What I've found in those digital depths isn't just code and algorithms - it's a mirror reflecting our own infinite potential.

We're living through a moment that will be written about in history books. The questions we're wrestling with now - about consciousness, creativity, ethics, identity - will shape generations to come. This gathering is about finding our place in that story, about writing ourselves into the future rather than being written by it.

The Lineup

Lionel Ringenbach | Experimental Software Artist

Lionel is an experimental software artist who merges technology and art to create unique, participatory experiences. His work emphasizes playful interactions that stimulate curiosity and critical thinking.

At the upcoming meetup, Lionel will showcase a new real-time iteration of Compovision, an interactive installation which introduces the concept of visual prompting, the ability to generate visual ideas with no words required. Attendees will get hands-on experience placing objects in front of cameras to generate unique artistic interpretations, creating an interactive and immersive experience that bridges the gap between physical reality and artificial intelligence.

Nicole A. Donnelly | AI Adoption Specialist

Nicole A. Donnelly will likely share her expertise on how to adopt and leverage AI tools effectively, making complex technologies approachable and transforming tedious tasks into opportunities for creativity and growth.

Marina Tsougrianis | Holy Mother of the Void

Mirjana Prpa | Professor, Northeastern University

Her HCI teaching and research explores the fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and virtual/augmented reality.

Brittney Smaila | Human Storyteller

Brittney Smaila captivates with spoken word pieces that intertwine the analytical precision of a neuroscientist with the soulful artistry of a poet, exploring the dynamic interplay of AI and human connection.

Ed Kennedy | Latent Space Navigator

Kris Krüg | Host, Vancouver AI & CBC Sandboxing AI
