About Event

Tencent’s CarbonX Program 2.0 is soliciting proposals globally based on 4 tech demonstration scenarios with tens of millions US$ in grant fundings. On Tuesday March 11th, join CDR.fyi’s upcoming webinar with the CarbonX Program managers to learn more about the call for proposal and the details on proposal requirements, selection criteria, implementation expectations, and ask your questions!

The CarbonX Program 2.0

The CarbonX Program, initiated by Tencent together with industry, investment, and ecosystem partners. It is dedicated to supporting emerging low-carbon technologies with substantial catalytic funding and resources.  CarbonX Program 2.0 focuses on pioneering advancements in Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS), Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR), and Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES).

Now open for proposals from visionary technology teams worldwide.

It aims to build first-of-its kind pilot projects in real industrial settings, incubate high potential startups, and support capacity building projects.

CARBON DIOXIDE REMOVAL (CDR) TRACK

Through the CarbonX Program 2.0, the aim is to accelerate the development and deployment of next-generation carbon removal technologies, enabling rapid scaling within a limited timeframe. The program seeks technology-based CDR solutions that can achieve significant cost reductions (e.g., achieving a levelized cost of less than $200 per tonne of CO₂ for DAC) by 2030.

Project Support Mechanisms

  • Funding Support: Each pilot project will receive grants of several million USD, depending on project-specific needs. The total grant pool amounts to tens of millions of USD.

  • Resource Support: Access to expert mentorship, scenario-based resources, partnerships with industry stakeholders for project implementation, and connections to relevant industry and investment partners.

Application Eligibility

Applications are open to universities, research institutions, and early-stage startups.

Application deadline is May 2025.
