​Welcome to HackOS 3: DeepSeek Hackathon!

​What is HackOS 3?

​A student-run hackathon to create models, aiming to beat various benchmarks for open access research topics, co-hosted between the University of Waterloo and McGill University! Feel free to join the HackOS Discord for more information.

​​Who can join?

​​​This hackathon is geared towards students, researchers, and recent grads. We welcome participants of all skill levels, whether you're writing code for the first time or a seasoned developer. If you are a public member, please send us a message, we'll do our best to accommodate!

​​What is happening?

​​This HackOS, we'll be playing around with the recently open-sourced DeepSeek-R1 model, while trying to retain its performance on various benchmarks. You can build solo, as a team, or even use pre-existing work for this hackathon!

​We'll also be writing a collaborative paper on any exciting findings we make, that we may submit to the arXiv, and to the ICLR Workshop on Foundation Models.
