The Y Berlin Community Design Lab presents a Code 2 Community challenge @ MOOS, supported by ICP Hub.

Through art, ritual, and technology, we are exploring the future of urban communities as a vector for change. Join us in the creation of new models for community resilience, relevance and resonance, building on three core pillars:

⚒️ making: how do we build local solutions for our local communties?

🎍mediating: how do we know if we are actually meeting a community’s needs?

👩🏼‍🌾 managing: how do we ethically and sustainably make use of novel solutions?

The Y Berlin is MOOS' community design lab, where we invite social designers, impact generators, and tech developers to co-create phygital solutions for community challenges.

Learn about urban community living: the successes, the challenges, the visions for the future. Receive up to 10,000 euros worth of experience grants for you and your team to build projects in the community lab.

:: kick off event ::

Join us on March 16th at 19:00h for an immersive evening at MOOS Berlin. An opportunity to meet your fellow creatives, form dynamic teams, and start brainstorming projects inspired by the three pillars. Expect a night filled with urban rituals, collective storytelling, and playful matchmaking.

You're welcome to join/bring friends even if you/they don't end up forming a team!

:: the community phase ::

Participants that form a team can register on the peer learning platform dacade.org and receive a starting package of Experience Grants that allow them to join listening sessions, morning yoga, the workshop schedule, access to living spaces, coworking spaces and meeting rooms at MOOS, during the challenge! Teams are invited to work in their own rhythms. There is no commitment necessary to be present on-site. The 10 day timespan allows for independent community building, cross-pollination and spaciousness for ideas to be distilled, receive feedback and get fine-tuned.

:: presentation event ::

On March 27th, the final presentations and harvesting celebration will be hosted at MOOS+online where participants present their results. There will be a jury plus a community vote. Winning proposals that can be implemented at MOOS or deployed on a decentralized protocol ICP will be especially considered for the receiving of experience grants.

:: experience grants ::

A total of € 10K is sponsored by ICP and will be offered through Experience Grants that can be used to access virtually all the offerings of the MOOS Ecosystem - interactive workshops, urban rituals, residencies, sustained community dialogues, and much more. This enables participants a unique opportunity to learn and interface with fellow community members and continue the co-creation of community interventions even after C2C. This grant model is also currently being expanded as the baseline structure for a more immersive participation in the MOOS Berlin community ecosystem.

:: why are we doing The Y Berlin ::

Instead of the (often overly solutionist) self-affirming types of hackathons that appeal largely to just one type of problem-solver, we conceived the community design lab as a learning space exploring new models for tackling complex existential questions.

The Community Design Lab and C2C challenge kicks off with EDS002 - an Experience Design Studio by seks.design hosting some of our favourite creatives as an all-nighter where the goal is not primarily on making sense but un-numbing our senses and renew our relationships with ourselves and each other.
