💡 Talk #1:

Raghav Nehru, Director & Practitioner, Platformatory
Title: Stories from running Kafka on Kubernetes

Abstract: Running Kafka on Kubernetes introduces a myriad of challenges and opportunities. This talk dives into the journey of deploying and managing Kafka clusters within Kubernetes environments. We will explore real-world stories, lessons learned, and best practices gathered from implementing Kafka in production Kubernetes clusters.

Bio: Raghav is a technologist and the Director of Platformatory LLC, based in Vancouver, Canada. Known for his hands-on-keyboard approach coupled with many years of experience in designing and implementing Distributed Systems, Desktop applications, Systems Management applications, and Web services. Outside of tech, he enjoys being the coach for his son who plays Table Tennis.

💡 Talk #2:
Sandon Jacobs, Sr. Developer Advocate, Confluent

Title: Ensuring Data Quality in Apache Kafka®: Great Power and Responsibility

Abstract: The great philosopher Stan Lee once wrote: “with great power comes great responsibility.” Little did he know the lesson he was teaching about data stream quality. But who’s actually responsible for the quality and integrity of Apache Kafka-based data streams? Data contracts and schema evolution are central to building responsible Kafka producers. Let’s discuss the best practices involved in making producer applications good stewards of data streams for downstream consumers.

Bio: Sandon Jacobs is a Senior Developer advocate at Confluent, where we're creating the foundational platform for data-in-motion. He has 20+ years of experience building applications and microservices on the JVM - with about 10 years in the Apache Kafka space.
