Climate Hackathon in the Park
The first two Climate Hackathons were so engaging that we are opening up the invite! What better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than grappling with the gritty details of sustainability solutions?
Location: We will meet in the center of the Great Hill. It's easy to enter Central Park via the 103rd Street Station from the blue and orange trains. Please note: if there is rain we will consider rescheduling so please check the event for updates.
What to bring: your climate-interested and solutions-focused attitude, blankets or chairs, sunscreen, water, charged laptop or pen+paper, and your friends who also have a climate-interested and solutions-focused attitude.
What you don't need: No need to have specialized expertise in sustainability or tech since sustainability solutions come from all angles in society. No need to plan or research in advance since the prompt will be revealed during the event. And no need to create a team in advance since small teams will be formed as we go.
Agenda:
11am gather and meet
11:30pm small teams are formed and the prompt is revealed
12:00pm hack
1:00pm report out
2:00pm network
We are taking the innovative, solutions-focused energy of a hackathon and directing it toward climate and other sustainability challenges that our society has encountered as of 2024. While we might not solve climate change during one afternoon, this seems like a great way to get involved and stay in contact with the good ideas that are being generated every day.
