About Event

Trees for the Future, an agroforestry and farmer-centric non-profit, has spent the last few years getting the Lake Victoria Watershed Carbon Project ready for verification and validation. With this knowledge and insight, key technicians from the project will host a lively workshop highlighting key elements that you need to think about as you get started on your own project.

In addition to providing a brief background on the Lake Victoria Watershed Carbon Project, Trees technicians from Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will host small group discussions around the following areas of interest:

  • Ensuring FPIC for farmers and communities - Trees technicians will talk through the free, prior, informed consent process including community stakeholder engagement, farmer contracts and information sharing.

  • Project Polygons - Trees technicians will discuss the importance of ensuring alignment with standard validation methods for Polygons, allow attendees to practice capturing a polygon and detail the GIS system now in place.

  • Baseline Basics - Trees technicians will talk through the questionnaires, measurements and data required, including soil, farmer surveys and field measurements.

You must be registered for the East Africa Carbon Markets Forum to attend the workshop.
