Volunteering Untapped NYC: Community Help in Park Slope (February Event)
Volunteering Untapped NYC is on a mission to build community through volunteering. We host events every month on the second Saturday and partner with local organizations around the city.
This month, we are partnering with Community Help in Park Slope (CHiPS) to assist with preparing and packing food, setting up, and distributing lunch meals to individuals and families experiencing homelessness and hunger.
Important note: for this event, CHiPS requests that each volunteer contribute an in-kind donation to support their food program. Please choose from these options ONLY:
a loaf of bread, or
a box of pasta
If you are unable to contribute one of the above items for the event, please let the VU team know! You are welcome to sign up and volunteer either way.
The event will be at CHiPS’s building (200 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, USA) and will go from 10:30am to 2:00pm. Afterwards, we’ll walk to Threes Brewing down the street to socialize over food and drinks!
About CHiPS
Founded in 1971, CHiPS is a soup kitchen, food pantry, and shelter for women with young children. Their mission is two fold: to ameliorate food insecurity and homelessness in New York City
Socials
Volunteering Untapped socials are an optional way to further socialize with other volunteers; we encourage everyone to come out to the social! Food and drinks will be available to purchase at Threes Brewing.
As a volunteer with Volunteering Untapped NYC I understand that the nature of the volunteer activity may involve some potential risks of injury.
