July 2025 Design Changemakers Gathering
We're starting a new monthly ritual to come together as changemakers who are using design as a vehicle for social and environmental change.
In this space, we center care, connection, and collective nourishment. You can slow down, show up as your full self, and let go of the pressure to be “productive” or “efficient.”
What to expect
We gather without an agenda and open ourselves up to what organically emerges when we come together as individuals, spread across the globe, who care about the wellbeing of others and the planet.
Just being ourselves, without the pressures to "perform" like in many capitalist settings, is an act of resistance.
The gathering will last around an hour but we may keep the Zoom room open afterwards for anyone who wants to continue chatting. This is an informal gathering so feel free to jump on and off at your convenience.
Our intentions in this space
Center the marginalized by ceding space, time, and attention to those historically excluded or silenced
Reject extractive culture by resisting the urge to show up just to “get answers” or “consume content”
Sustain the work with solidarity by sharing funds and time without relying on unpaid, invisible labor
We also value intentional presence, consensual sharing, and accountable repair when things feel off. We strongly believe community is built in how we move through discomfort together.
Access considerations
We will offer closed captions and a live transcript. These sessions will not recorded to protect the privacy of this space — that way, folks are comfortable to come and share openly.
We know that not everyone can attend live, so we commit to record a short video at every gathering with takeaways for those who can't make it.

This unconventional gathering is hosted as part of Design Changemakers, a gathering place for collective learning and co-design of liberatory futures.
Our monthly gatherings will be convened by one or more of our community stewards: Sandra Camacho, Olivia Kim, Karen Hodo, and Amanda Carvalho.
