MLOps Meetup Nov 2024 (Two Talks)
Tonight we’ll be hearing from:
Carlos Gemmell on "From the Alexa challenge to Malted AI".
Malted AI was founded based on distillation techniques inspired by the problems the founders had applying LLMs to complex tasks as part of the Amazon Alexa Challenge, a global competition designed to advance the field of AI. In this talk, Carlos Gemmell, will share how their journey in the challenge, led him and his co-founders to develop technology to tackle the complexities of applying Language Models to sophisticated tasks in production settings, and how this shaped what Malted AI is today.
Carlos Gemmell is the co-founder & CTO of Malted AI, a company focused on distilled LLM solutions for enterprises. He has worked at Meta FAIR labs working alongside the Llama 2 and CodeLlama teams, focusing on teaching LLMs to use tools through synthetic data. He is also working on a PhD at the University of Glasgow, supervised by Jeff Dalton, on tool reasoning for language models. Carlos led the winning multi-million dollar Amazon Alexa Prize TaskBot team as one of 125+ global AI teams, scaling practical applications of large language models to 10,000+ users across the US. His work is published at EMNLP, SIGIR and has delivered talks at Stanford University.
Dr. Lloyd Hamilton on "InnerClaude: How to deploy your own LLM chat interface on AWS".
Dr. Lloyd Hamilton is an ML Engineer with a strong focus on Data Engineering and MLOps. Lloyd graduated with a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh where he developed his expertise in Computer Vision. He works at Hypercube and is responsible for the design and implementation of data platforms for ML.
