Community By Design: The Intangibles That Define East Village at Design Week Calgary
A successful master planned neighbourhood isn’t just about building homes – it’s about building community. That’s why Calgary Municipal Land Corporation, master developer of Calgary’s East Village, infused thoughtful and innovative design principals into every aspect of the master plan to create the vibrant, active and connected community on the east end of downtown. Join CMLC on a walking tour of East Village to learn about the hidden-in-plain sight details that make East Village the community it is today – from public spaces designed with safety in mind and wider-than-average pedestrian corridors that connect cultural institutions to the river to strategically-located public art and high-quality public realm finishings that have already attracted 4,000 residents, dozens of retailers and more than $3B in private investment to the neighbourhood.
