AI in the Street — Public Policy Approaches
How can innovation places feel like good places for people to live, work and visit?
What does public design mean in an AI-centred innovation ecosystem? What might stewardship look like within the context of public innovation?
During the workshop you will hear from:
Tom Saunders, UKRI
Steph Wright, Scottish AI Alliance
Miriam Levin, Demos
Noortje Marres, University of Warwick
Alex Taylor, University of Edinburgh
Rachel Coldicutt, Careful Industries
Dominique Barron, Careful Industries
Sharing insights from our multi-partner collaborative project AI in the Street, this workshop will explore new approaches to innovation strategies that understand AI, people, and places, and deliver collective benefit.
In the workshop, we will share insights from the research observatories in five locations across the UK and Australia and hear responses from public policy experts on what the insights might mean for public innovation strategies. The discussion will consider what is working, what isn't, and what is needed for new directions in innovation policy.
The workshop is for those working across the public policy landscape — from civil society, academia, industry, and government.
Lunch will be available at the start for those in the room. The workshop will start properly at 1.30pm, which is when the Google Meets room will open.
Please note: The in-person portion is invite-only and on a first come first served basis. Online participation is open to all.
AI in the Street is funded under the AHRC BRAID programme (Bridging Divides in Responsible AI). Project partners are Careful Industries, University of Warwick, University of Edinburgh, University of Cambridge, and Monash University.
We would like to thank Nesta for hosting this workshop.
