South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs Women Veterans’ Innovation Summit

BUILDING A COMMUNITY WHERE WOMEN VETERANS CONNECT, GROW, AND THRIVE!

Event Description:

Join with other women to connect and collaborate, explore the future and create next steps for our newly emerging group. In this session you will have an opportunity to:

●       Connect to a shared sense of purpose to elevate our collective futures.

●       Explore who we are and what matters most to us as women Veterans.

●       Co-create our future and identify potential next steps.

●       Collaborate, network, and build excitement for this emergent group.

Date and Time: June 8th, 8:30 am - 12:30pm ET

Approach:

This event will be facilitated by Jen Syzmanski and Adair Cates using the XChange Approach, which enables exponential outcomes by choreographing conversations that unlock a group's collective wisdom. This method is used by organizations like BMW, the US Navy, Facebook and Keller Williams to create deep human connection and sustained change in uncertain times. If you'd like to learn more about Xchange and the science behind it, check out this podcast or visit our website.

How to Show Up:

#1. End to End Participation. Due to the interactive nature of this call, if you signed up to attend, please attend, show up on time, and stay the whole time. If you’re unable to do that, plan to not attend.

#2. Cameras On. This is an interactive event, so please show up camera-ready and with your camera on!

#3. Let the Light Pour In. Set-up where you can have lots of natural light coming in and lighting your face. The light should not hit your back. Natural light is not only great for energy levels, but it's also a great look! Be mindful that your computer screen is a source of unflattering light, so adjust your screen brightness if necessary.

#4. Raise your Camera. Do whatever it takes to position your camera at eye level. This means you might have to get creative! The best and only camera angle to strive for is head-on, so your camera is at the same level as your eyes.

#5 Find your best headphones (and a mic if you have it). Your headphones will help to eliminate feedback from your computer speakers, and they might even have a better mic than your computer. You can test your external mic vs. computer mic via a Zoom audio test.

#6. What to Bring. Grab your favorite pen, notepaper, and any snacks or hydration to keep you comfortable.

#7. What NOT to Bring. Eliminate as many potential distractions as possible. Find a comfortable and quiet place, turn your phone on silent, close all browsers tabs on your computer, and set up your email autoresponder as you would if attending an in-person event.

#8. Engage Mindfully and Be Stationary. Keep yourself muted at appropriate times and be mindful of how "Chat" is being used—either as a tool or as a distraction. Do not drive or walk around during the call.

#9. Enjoy Yourself! When you show up as your best self, your positive attitude and energy will ripple through the group.
