How to Build a High Performing Global Distributed Team - Learning from Goodnotes.
Building a globally distributed team means high operation cost, difficult to manage and lower productivity?
Not Necessarily! It is challenging to scale with the restriction of fixed locations, you will either be hit by high cost or lack of talent. It is a huge leverage if a startup can tap in global talent, and build a high-performing culture among a multi-culture distributed team.
Vivien Ko is the head of talent & people operation of Goodnotes. She was the first and only talent manager in Goodnotes when it was a team of less than 20 members all based in Hong Kong. Vivien built the infrastructure to hire globally, as well as to cultivate an engaging and high performing culture with a fully distributed team. Goodnotes is now a 300+ strong team, with team members from 30+ countries, formerly working for Microsoft, Apple, Google, Meta, Uber and the like.
