TFHE-rs: The Cryptographic Backbone of Zama’s Confidential Blockchain Protocol
Jean-Baptiste Orfila, VP Cryptography Engineering at Zama will present how TFHE-rs powers Zama’s confidential blockchain protocol by enabling developers to write smart contracts that remain encrypted end-to-end using fully homomorphic encryption (FHE). With the release of TFHE-rs v1.0, the library now better supports distributed protocols through features like shared key generation and a new default TUniform noise distribution—offering more flexibility than traditional Gaussian-based schemes. This talk will explore how TFHE-rs makes confidential computation onchain practical, and the cryptographic choices behind its design.

Daniel Demmler, Co-leader of the MPC team at Zama, will explore the cryptographic architecture behind Zama’s upcoming cross-chain protocol. This talk breaks down the building blocks enabling confidential computation at scale—combining fully homomorphic encryption (FHE), threshold multi-party computation (MPC), and optimistic rollups to deliver end-to-end encrypted smart contract execution on any blockchain. You'll learn how coprocessors handle heavy FHE workloads, how threshold MPC secures decryption keys, and how a modular rollup design orchestrates these components securely and efficiently.
