​Toast is a software company that offers point-of-sale and management systems for about 79,000 restaurants in Boston and beyond. Toast was founded in 2012, and went public on NYSE in 2021 (NYSE: TOST). It is considered one of the most successful examples of vertical SaaS and payment companies in its generation.

​About Steve Fredette

Steve is the President, Co-founder, and a Director of Toast, leading product and innovation initiatives. Fredette built out Toast’s wide range of products — hand-held point-of-sale systems, kitchen display screens, and self-ordering kiosks — which are now used in restaurants around the world. Before starting Toast, Fredette worked at Endeca, and developed popular apps, including Flickr and Shoebuy.com. Fredette earned a bachelor of science in chemistry from MIT.

Jeffrey J. Bussgang is a Senior Lecturer in the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at the Harvard Business School as well as Co-Founder and General Partner at Flybridge Capital Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm with offices in Boston and New York City and over $1 billion under management across six seed funds and nine network funds.
