About Event

Join us for a Forest Steward-led clean-up event in SE 53rd Open Space. This beautiful park is home to dynamic trails, a watercourse, a wetland, and plenty of bird action! But this park needs some serious help; much of the forest floor is blanketed in ivy, making natural regeneration of native vegetation difficult. By volunteering, you can help to remove the ivy and make space for a future healthier forest. We will also be spreading some mulch on spots were ivy has been removed to help prevent it from growing back!

No experience necessary, all ages welcome! Please note: we require participants aged 14 and under to volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of 1 adult to 3 kids.

What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring water. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.
