SE 53rd Open Space Work Party!

​Join us for a Forest Steward-led clean-up event in SE 53rd Open Space. This beautiful park is home to dynamic trails, a watercourse, a wetland, and plenty of bird action! But this park needs some serious help; much of the forest floor is blanketed in ivy, making natural regeneration of native vegetation difficult. By volunteering, you can help to remove the ivy and make space for a future healthier forest. We will also be spreading some mulch on spots were ivy has been removed to help prevent it from growing back!

​No experience necessary, all ages welcome! Please note: we require participants aged 14 and under to volunteer with a parent or guardian at a ratio of 1 adult to 3 kids.

​What to bring: Dress for the weather in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty (think: long pants, boots or sneakers). Bring water. Small snacks, gloves, and tools will be provided.
