Joseph Phua is the Co-Founder, Executive Chairman and CEO of 17LIVE. Joseph is a seasoned professional in building and driving growth in various technology companies in the region, with a proven track record of building companies with a combined asset value of over a billion dollars and, in the process, raising over $200 million to drive growth in these companies.
He has extensive experience in investments and M&A, investing out of his fund, Turn Capital, a single family office focused on taking controlling stakes in various TMT related companies and consumer brands in Asia.
Joseph is also the co-founder of the dating app Paktor, chairman of the SoundOn Group, and founder of NextApple News. Under his leadership, 17LIVE grew to become the leading live-streaming platform in Japan and Taiwan.
Joseph holds an MBA degree from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University. In 2021, he established a scholarship to support a Taiwanese or Singaporean student admitted to the Booth School of Business MBA program.
