Sundai-Aethos Hack - with Manolis Kellis from MIT - "Mantis AI"
This Sundai we will hack on Mantis, an AI-powered Visual Data Science platform developed by Manolis Kellis and his team at MIT.
As AI is reshaping how we work, reason, and learn, current chatbot frameworks are unfortunately excluding humans from the creative process, underutilizing the extraordinary acuity of human visual cognition, hiding away necessary complexity, and providing over-confident and over-simplified answers to complex questions, resulting in reduced human creativity and ingenuity.
Mantis provides a new paradigm for human-AI collaboration that extends human conceptual reach, insight, and speed, by blending natural language, structured data, and visual reasoning into an interactive canvas for exploration and discovery. User interactions are enriched with a wide range of tools and capabilities, including: lasso selection, magic lasso, bags, paths, partitions, clusters, ontologies, flashcards, waypoints, vignettes, journeys, quick-sheets, keywords, plotting, coding, notebooks, collaboration, and a crew of interactive, interacting, reasoning, learning expert agents, and their coordinating orchestrator.
Mantis is based on Cognitive Cartography, Agentic Workflows, Multi-Modal Embeddings, and Contextual Reasoning,
The Mantis platform can be applied to almost any "vertical", from knowledge management, to business analytics, investment portfolios, startups, founders, patents, publications, genes, drugs, patients, products, buyers, sellers, ideas, songs, meetings, people, financial reports, government documents, laws, regulations, code, GitHub commits, progress reports, memos, news, books, historical events, Wikipedia, social media, YouTube videos, and education.
The goal of our hack will be to build on top of the Mantis platform: (1) select a vertical; (2) gather/scrape relevant dataset; (3) decide on capabilities, questions, protocols, and agentic workflows; (4) navigate complex information space of your data to discover new insights

Sundai Club is a global hacker movement that meets every sunday to build a new app with AI from scratch by the end of the day.
We are always looking for the best people in building, designing or growing to join us. Our goal is to push the envelope of what is possible to build in a day with AI. We had done 70+ hackathons back-to-back in the last year - one for every sunday.
Our vision at Sundai:
"AI is the new literacy". "Hacking with AI" is a core skill of the future. It will give you superpowers to do incredible things FAST.
Our values:
Open. Balance. Shortcuts.
Open mind, open source, open to new ideas and people from all walks of life. This is how progress happens.
Balance between serving our community and making big strides for the future. Balance between hard work and frolic. Balance between spending time with your loved ones vs pushing the envelop of what's possible.
Shortcuts is an ingenious move that a hacker makes to build a system that works. In order to build fast - you always need to think in shortcuts.
