About Event

What if you were from a different planet / world and one day just randomly appeared in Toronto's East End? Considering you do things differently in your own world, how would you perceive things? how would you navigate? what senses do you use? and most importantly how do you document it?

This walk is an exploration of those questions: a playful, exploration of a familiar neighbourhood through unfamiliar eyes. You’ll be invited to step into the role of a visitor from another world, sent here to understand this strange, beautiful place, and take your learnings back home.

On this journey, you are invited to pick a role like “Memory Collector” or “Sound Scout” or Come up with your own with your own mini-missions and prompts to guide how you explore.

You get to pick if you want to map your experience by sound recording, photography, writing, poetry, sketching, sensory plotting or just observing. Maybe you’ll imagine what kind of creature a fire hydrant alley might be, or what message the wind is trying to send you.

We'll start at the Stanley G Grizzle Park right opposite to the entrance of Main Street TTC Subway Station on Line 2

Together, our expedition will cover the streetscapes going west through a mix of old, new and in between and end at East Lynn park near Woodbine Subway Station to share our findings.

This walk is about noticing the world and each other a little differently. It’s for anyone who’s ever felt out of place, or deeply in love with a corner of the city for reasons they can’t quite explain.

Bring your weirdness, your wonder, your willingness to look again. You don’t need to know where we’re going just that it’s going to be different from the other times.

It is not mandatory that you engage in the activity, you can just walk with us :)

All entities welcome, Human and More than Human.
