Death Side of the Moon
At DEATH SIDE OF THE MOON we explore the ins and outs of the internal death-and-rebirth cycle.
We die many deaths throughout our lives.
Sometimes they coincide with a big external change — the death of a loved one, a breakup, leaving a job, moving cities. And sometimes they don't. Sometimes the internal winds just start to shift and it's up to us to recognize the call and... let it die.
The death aspect of the cycle is imperative — it can't be rushed or skipped. We can't be reborn without first dying. We can't be a phoenix rising from the ashes without first burning. Sometimes we must contract to expand; we must slow down to go fast.
The more skillfully we can recognize these calls for what they are — and move with them not against them — the more fluidly we can be reshaped by life. By our paths. By our hardships. By our souls.
Death Side of the Moon is a deep exploration of surrender. I've put together a teaching based on everything I've learned in my own death cycles, which have been an intimate teacher for me, especially in the last five years. There were tangible big changes: moving across the country; leaving a software engineering career to pursue bodywork and death care; the death of my grandmother. And there were the less tangible deaths: the internal, energetic shifts; the karmic unwindings; the maturational thresholds; all carrying that same life-death-life signature.
What I teach at Death Side of the Moon has helped me move through depressive, stuck times into big transitions. It's my collection of maps for fluidity and ease with big change. DSotM also incorporates what I've learned from sitting bedside with the dying, as they prepare for the ultimate transition — and why this throughline of "death," both literal and metaphorical, can be so helpful.
Death Side of the Moon is a two-hour event that includes both conceptual and experiential learning:
my transmission on working with life-death-life cycles, to bring more fluidity and ease to your process
an opportunity to talk about your relationship with death, and what's currently moving in you, with a supportive small group (3 of us total)
exercises to reflect on what you're ready to let go of
energy work for each attendee in turn: this is the embodied, energetic side of the learning. you'll be held and supported in opening up to deeper surrender through the body. you'll also get to witness someone else's process
Death Side of the Moon is for you if:
you want to surrender more deeply in life but aren't sure how
you want to release shadows or old versions of you that you're carrying around
you want to make a big change but feel stuck
you feel a nudge to explore your relationship with death
We meet just before the New Moon: a perfect moment for cleansing and releasing. The date is Friday, August 2nd, and we're tentatively scheduled for 4-6pm, but I'm flexible on the time based on attendee timezones. (This event is being run twice for the August New Moon; the Saturday session is full.)
Tickets are $160. Hit the Request to Join button to receive registration details. It's best to have some experience with energy work or another somatic practice.
