Youth Handbuilding Beginners LEVEL 1 & 1.5 - Tuesday Afternoon's
*Please note this class is open to youth 14+ years only or by special application - due to the current studio working environment and height of the workshop tables this class is suitable for mature students.
This 6-week youth hand-building group experience will take your teen through the fundamentals of working clay using only your hands and a small selection of tools.
For our returning students you will be challenged with larger or slightly more complex makes, and the opportunity to build on the skills learned in Handbuilding 1.0.
We'll learn pinching, slab, joining and surface decoration techniques to make a selection of one-of-a-kind pieces.
You will learn how to prepare ceramic work for firing and glazing and use the studio's incredible selection of kiwi underglazes plus premium and bespoke glazes to decorate.
The final week's session will be a show and tell where we encourage parents and students to come along and celebrate an exciting term of making. Please bring a plate of snacks to share
This class is suitable for beginners and those who've had a taste of clay before but are keen to refine their skills.

*if you know you are going to be absent for certain days during the term please contact Karla Marie directly before signing up for the class to ensure you're not missing a vital class, whilst there will be limited makeup classes available, not all sessions can be catered for on an individual basis. see the terms below.

Tuition is non-transferable once the term has commenced.
Clay, tools, and firing fees are included in classes unless otherwise stated.
Refund Policy
If you need to cancel your class for any reason please contact us asap so that we may attempt to assist you in finding a replacement for your seat in the class. Whilst we will do our best to accommodate, we cannot guarantee refunds unless:
A full refund (minus $25 administration fee) will be given if you cancel 3 weeks prior to the class starting.
A 50% refund will be given if you cancel 2 weeks prior to a class starting. (or a full refund if a replacement can be found)
No refund will be given if your cancellation occurs within 1 week of the class starting date unless a suitable replacement can be found.
Non-attendance
If you are unable to make a class for personal reasons, bad weather, or illness, we do not offer refunds and cannot guarantee make-up classes. However, there will be very limited options for makeup classes thorough the term at a cost of $60 per session on some Thursday evenings (and possibly other days) and in lieu of these, we will do our best to catch you up where possible.
Karla Marie Ceramics Limited reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrolment. A full refund will be issued if this is the case.
Karla Marie Ceramics Limited reserves the right to change the tutor stated for the class at any given time, however, we will endeavor to let students know ahead of time.
