About Event

Welcome to the AthenaDAO Book Club! In this series, we will be exploring some of the most insightful books on women's health.

Our first book, Hormonal, dives deep into the complex interplay of hormones in women's bodies, shedding light on how they affect everything from our moods to our metabolism. From puberty to menopause, author Martie Haselton presents a fascinating exploration of the science of hormones.

Next up, we'll be reading The Menopause Manifesto by Dr. Jen Gunter. This book offers a comprehensive and evidence-based guide to navigating the menopause transition, including practical advice on managing symptoms and staying healthy. With her trademark humor and frankness, Dr. Gunter busts common myths and misconceptions about menopause, and empowers women to take charge of their health during this transformative phase of life. We can't wait to dive into this important and timely topic with you.

Then, Inferior by Angela Saini. This groundbreaking book critically examines the pervasive bias against women in science and society, challenging long-held assumptions about female intelligence and abilities. With meticulous research and compelling arguments, Saini exposes the flawed thinking behind many cultural norms and expectations.

In The Female Factor, author Dr Hazel Wallace takes a broader view of women's health, examining the social and economic factors shaping women's healthcare and wellness experiences. From access to healthcare to the gender pay gap, Wallace uncovers the systemic challenges women face and offers insights into how we can create a more equitable world.

Sex Matters, by Alyson J. McGregor, is an eye-opening look at how gender affects our healthcare experiences. Drawing on her experiences as a physician, McGregor highlights the disparities and biases women encounter in medical settings, and offers practical solutions for improving care for everyone.

Finally, we'll be reading Invisible Women by Caroline Criado-Perez, a stunning exploration of how women are systematically excluded from many aspects of modern life. From medical research to urban planning, Criado-Perez exposes how women's needs are ignored or overlooked and offer a powerful call to action for change.

Join us for lively discussions and thoughtful analysis of these important books. We look forward to exploring the complex and fascinating world of women's health together!
