UH 2021 ASLI Cypher Season 2 FINALE
You are invited to attend the UH ASLI 2021 Cypher Season 2 hosted by the ASL Society at UH.
On April 3rd, ASLI interns demonstrated their interpreting skill with the selected topic. Since the show, the interns have been working with seasoned mentors to polish their performance. They are ready to showcase their growth on the FINALE show.
Each "episode" will feature 2-3 interns, delivering their interpretation without break ("cypher style"). Each episode will last 12 minutes, followed by a brief break. Mentors will provide final feedback to the interns and answer a few audience questions on this topic.
Mentor(s): Carlos Macias and Terra Jackson
Carlos Macias is a professional Deaf artist. He was selected as one of the top 300 scoring artist for Bayou City Art Festival in Houston in 2018. In March, 2018, it was his first exhibition as “The Rising Talent”. He focuses on the stories from his experience, aiming the complication of life through visual of color. Carlos Macias is a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas with Bachelor of Fine Arts (2003).
Terra Jackson has been a certified interpreter for 17 years. She holds both a national certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf and a BEI Master from the State of Texas. She completed her interpreter training program at Lansing Community College in Lansing, MI. Her specialties include ASL-to-English, post-secondary, and deaf-blind interpreting. She has served as
