Moderator: Niyat Gebreab, Carbon Management Lead @ MaRS - Niyat leads Mission from MaRS: Carbon Management, an initiative that aims to accelerate the adoption of Canadian carbon removal innovations. Her work is currently focused on the newly launched Carbon Credit Purchasing Program that will see MaRS purchasing carbon removal credits from early-stage Canadian start-ups alongside a corporate buyer education program.
Speakers
Tim Bushman, Director Policy & Research @ Carbon Removal Canada - Tim has a background in climate science and has worked extensively across the field of carbon management. His research has focused on mitigation strategies for the difficult-to-abate sectors and carbon dioxide removal from the atmosphere. He previously worked at Carbon Direct and the Energy Futures Initiative.
Todd Scheidt, Co-Founder and CEO @ E-quester - Todd is a co-founder and the CEO of E-quester. He spent most of his career in software and consulting where he specialized in scaling new technologies and products globally. Most recently he worked with Shopify and Google, where he led strategy and operations teams in both organizations. A long-time observer of the impacts of climate change and the climate tech industry, he made the switch into climate tech just over a year ago in hopes of leaving a better world behind for future generations.
Elena Nikonova, VP Strategy North America @ Skytree - Elena is VP North America for Skytree. +12 years in Sales & Strategy Leadership roles at e-mobility branches of Energy Multinationals like Shell and ENGIE. Previously ex-Chief Strategy Officer at a chargepoint operator backed by BOLT, strategy consultant at Roland Berger with PhD in Applied Mathematics
Andy Lam, Director of Business Development @ CarbonRun - Andy is the Director of Business Development at CarbonRun where he is responsible for identifying and building strategic partnerships as well as developing new river alkalinity enhancement projects across Canada and globally. Andy has a wealth of experience across climate and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) topics, having created and led various initiatives such as climate tech accelerators and CDR procurement programs throughout his career. In 2022, Andy was recognized by Corporate Knights for its Top 30 Under 30 Sustainability Leaders.
