Women & Non-Binary Night: Female Audio Pioneers & PureData Software
The theme of tonight's women & non-binary hack night continues the theme of female audio pioneers! Luckily with electronic music many of these women are finally getting their due recognition, and tonight we highlight the creations of Laurie Spiegel.
Laurie was a classically trained musician who used technology in the best of ways. “You were making the sounds yourself, as opposed to writing them down on a score and then hoping you could persuade a conductor and an orchestra to turn them into sound. You could immediately hear the realization of your ideas.”
We'll be playing her music, discussing her accomplishments during hack night, and also introducing folks to open-source software PureData.
Hack on Analog Audio
We have analog audio superheroes at our event, and you can fiddle with the equipment and learn about sound engineering!

AI open source project
We will focus on multimodal generative artificial intelligence models and create small code samples inspired by female pioneers of electronic and analog music!
Hack on What you Want
Since this is mostly screen-free and face to face, this frees up the meeting for everyone to work on whatever they want and participate at will!
The SudoRoom has hardware of all types: analog audio, soldering tools, a lasercutter, and more! So this isn't just a software workshop.
Hardware Hacking
Poke around our wiki to see all the cool toys we have!
We have a bunch of tools on our wiki such as the Big Red Laser Cutter https://sudoroom.org/wiki/Big_red_laser_cutter
