Machine Cinema “GenTalks” August 13th
Hey everyone,
*Please note time switch!* This Wednesday 9-10am PT / 12-1pm ET is our weekly digital get together to connect on how we are all making our way through this new era for creative industries and AI among other emergent technologies, sharing ideas, tips, knowledge amongst ourselves.
Our group is an amazing mix of creators/ producers/ builders/ some new to this stuff/ some OG/ all of us constantly learning.
You can join however you want - camera on, camera off. It's ok if you just want to listen, but it's more fun if you participate. We usually meet every two weeks.
This week we'll be joined by:
Dave Clark
Dave Clark is an award-winning filmmaker at the forefront of integrating Generative AI into film, TV, and advertising. He is currently the Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer at Promise. Recognized as a leading voice for his ability to blend nuanced storytelling with cutting-edge technology seamlessly, he has become one of the most sought-after artists, with top filmmakers and storytellers worldwide turning to him for guidance on this transformative technology.
Clark recently amassed millions of views for his groundbreaking AI directing work, including his short film “Battalion,” which focused on the only Black unit to arrive on Omaha Beach in Normandy during World War 2. It quickly captured the attention of Hollywood, with many top directors reaching out to learn more about the technology behind it. Dave also garnered widespread acclaim when he released the world’s first hybrid narrative genre short, “Another,” combining live-action and GenAI. It was screened during his keynote presentation at Cannes Next in 2024.
Over his career, Dave has also been a successful brand marketer and commercial director – creating films, immersive engagements, and brand spots for companies like Coca-Cola, Snapchat, Hewlett Packard, Warner Bros., and Intel.
Caroline Thireau - French Creative Technologist
Co-editor of the weekly Newsletter Générative with Gilles Guerraz and contributor to LHC, a monthly magazine dedicated to AI, I explore and decode creative generative AI through the lens of design and innovation.
Her atypical career path — spanning graphic facilitation, visual merchandising, and graphic design — is rooted in a strong artistic background.
As an active member of the French generative AI ecosystem, she leads in-depth monitoring and cultural adoption initiatives, takes part in meetups and hackathons as a mentor, and tests cutting-edge tools in early access, both French (Seelab, Pimento, BeInk Dream) and international (Weavy, Higgsfield, Morphic).
Her approach blends visual culture, storytelling, and practical use cases to bridge traditional creative tools with gen AI, designing the most effective workflow combinations.
