Speakers

Ankit Virmani
Ankit Virmani is a data architect and AI specialist at Google, with over a decade of experience in the field. He has made significant contributions to applying AI in healthcare and pharmaceuticals, aiming to improve patient care and optimize drug pricing strategies. Ankit's career includes tenures at CVS, Amazon, Deloitte, and Infosys. He is a strong advocate for ethical AI and has been honored with the Indian Achiever's Award in 2023 and inclusion in Marquis Who's Who. Ankit frequently shares his expertise through guest lectures at renowned universities such as USC, Indiana University, and UBC.

Chris Tar
Chris Tar, a research manager at Google DeepMind in Mountain View, California, has extensive experience in Japan, including six years at Bloomberg LP in Tokyo and a recent stint in Kyoto with Google. He leads ML and language-focused AI teams and is a published researcher specializing in neural language modeling and text embeddings. Chris holds an MBA from UC Berkeley and an undergraduate degree from the University of Vermont.

Amil Khanzada
After receiving his B.A. in Computer Science from UC Berkeley, Amil worked in the Silicon Valley at Hewlett-Packard (HP) and VMWare Pivotal Greenplum as a software developer. Moving to Eiheiji, Fukui to teach programming while learning Zen, Amil was appointed as Evolution Ambassador and sent to the One Young World conference to represent Japan. 

In early 2020, Amil pursued graduate studies in Artificial Intelligence at Stanford University. When the pandemic hit, Amil committed himself to pandemic relief efforts and founded Virufy, a 501(c)(3) organization developing a smartphone app to prescreen for COVID-19 instantly through AI-powered analysis of voice and cough recordings. Enrolling in UC Berkeley’s MBA / M.Eng. program for roughly a year, Amil took a leave of absence and is now pursuing a doctoral program at  theUniversity of Fukui.
