​Large AI companies are developing technologies they do not understand. The leading AI researchers agree that this is risky and could be catastrophic. They are gambling with our futures, we should have a say.

• ​Following Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo’s announcement of the launch of the **International Network of AI Safety Institutes** during the AI Seoul Summit in May, the U.S. Commerce Department and U.S. State Department shared that they will co-host the inaugural convening of the Network on November 20-21, 2024, in San Francisco, California.

• ​The AI Safety Conference in SF is a rare opportunity to bring together decision makers and AI experts from around the world. Don’t let this opportunity go to waste.

• ​We need a Pause! Check out our proposal for more details on what we mean by that.

• ​We need international regulations & collaboration. Why is China missing from this conference? Where is the Bejing AI Safety Institute? We need China to be at the table - otherwise the AI race will not be stopped.

• ​A pause is technically feasible, for now. Supply chain regulation (e.g. through ASML) can help proliferation of AI training facilities, but we can’t wait for too long, or it will be too late. Read Building the Pause Button to understand what can be done.

​We will be in the quad or nearby depending on weather. Come by if you want to support the movement, ask questions, or debate. I'll be there between classes, so if you don't see anyone, feel free to hold a sign and engage with people yourself.
