WELCOME TO THE SOURCE OF NILE, UGANDA

You are invited to immerse yourself in an unforgettable experience at the source of the Nile while exploring opportunities in Tourism and Minerals in Uganda.

Endorsed by the Busoga Kingdom, Uganda, LWA Cultural & Mineral Tourism Summit 2024 will be hosted by the Leading Women of Africa in partnership with African Peace Advocates (APA) at The Source if the Nile Hotel in Jinja, Uganda, 11th-14th September 2024.

Tourism is a fast-growing sector supported by the fact that Uganda is ranked as a top tourist destination and one of only three countries with about 50% of the world’s known population of endangered mountain gorillas.

Furthermore, Uganda has close to 27 mineral types in commercially viable quantities including iron ore, gold, copper, cobalt, uranium, marble, limestone, phosphates and graphite, among others.

The Busoga Kingdom

Busoga kingdom uniquely sits at the heart of the longest Nile in the world in Jinja- Eastern region of Uganda and is surrounded by scared spiritual islands of Buvuma and Dolwe in Lake Victoria, Budhumbula shrine, Kagulu Rock, Bujagali and Itanda falls.

OBJECTIVES

  • To bring together the Africa’s Reigning Queens and Princess as a critical force to strengthen cultural institutions as a tool to enhance women participation in tourism and mining opportunities in Africa.

  • To unlock the opportunities for investment in culture, heritage, dance, food and women artisan miners within Busoga Kingdom and Eastern Uganda.

  • To provide destination knowledge and the opportunity to have firsthand experience of cultural tourism sites in Uganda and thus connect with the local product suppliers.

The Summit targets the core tourism sector in both public and private sector with an emphasis on women. This will include accommodation units, Tour Operators, Travel Agents, airline operator’s car hire companies, tourism training institutions.

The LWA Cultural & Mineral Tourism Summit 2024 is to be opened with a high-level stakeholders pre summit event and a ROYAL DINNER at the Palace by Her Royal Highness the Queen of Busoga as the 1st dinner ever hosted since her highness acceded to the throne in 2023 to what gave the Busoga royal family immense value to our nation and Busoga a sense of identity and allegiance to the kingdom with a large following and inspiration to the youth and women.
