About Event

Cylch LDN is pleased to announce its third live and in-person interview with former Chief Commercial Officer of His Majesty's Government and current Chair of National Highways, Sir Gareth Rhys Williams.

Having spent his early childhood in Miskin, Llantristant, South Wales, Gareth then attended Eton College and went on to have a wide-ranging career as a CEO of several private companies across the UK, Europe and the US, including listed companies on the FTSE stock exchange, as well as exec and non-exec roles in private equity, before becoming the Chief Commercial Officer for HM Government for eight and a half years between 2016 and 2024.

In his role as Chief Commercial Officer, he was responsible for tens of billions of pounds of central procurement budget and ensuring value-for-money in commercial contracts and transactions across government.

During the interview, I'll ask Gareth about his memories of growing in Wales, how much time he spends there today, his experience of leading private sector companies versus working at the top of government, challenges he faced in implementing change within the Civil Service, what the government still needs to do to get better value for money, and his experience of procurement in devolved administrations and how they could better utilise this as a tool to stimulate their economies.

Please join from 18:00. The interview will start at approximately 18:30, lasting for approximately an hour, followed by approximately 15 minutes of audience Q&As, followed by networking over drinks.

I hope to see you there.
