This is a hike for which a participation fee has to be paid. If you click 'Attending' but haven't paid the fee, we will have to revert your status to 'Not Attending'.
Most hikers are not familiar with the Batang Kali area, let apart its hinterland.
We have two options for this hike, both with a moderate elevation gain. Option A will be good for 12.5 kilometres and those who choose Option B will hike a loop of around 8.5 kilometres.
The meet-up place is at a campground with a private hot spring. The participation fee covers parking and entry fee, access to the open air hot spring pool, restrooms and shower facilities. You will get access for the day, so if you want to prepare lunch at the campsite (and mingle with the KLH hikers who are camping) you can do so, but you will have to bring the necessary food and cooking utensils.
IMPORTANT: Make sure you have a gps navigation app (like ~in alphabetical order~ AllTrails (paid version), Gaia, Hiiker, Komoot, Maps.me, OSMAnd, Wikiloc,...) installed on your phone and make sure that it is working properly. If you don't have an app installed yet, we suggest to use Hiiker to start with. Once you have downloaded the offline map of Malaysia, you can easily import and navigate any gpx file. Do not come to the venue if you have not pre-installed a gps navigation app at home, or have not downloaded the map of Malaysia at home, or have not opened the test gpx file at home. Every week, we notice that too many hikers arrive just before the event starts and are absolutely not prepared which is jeopardising the scheduled timing of the event. Especially iPhone users are urged to make sure that they can open the test gpx file at home and are able to navigate.
This is a self-guided hike. You will receive a gpx file at the trailhead and you will have to navigate yourself. There will be no paper markers. For those who are not familiar with gps navigation, you will be guided but still have to use your own navigation app on your phone.
By 02:00 pm all hikers should reached the car park again.
Do note that the indicated meet-up time is not the time you should arrive at the meet-up location. It is the time that the hike effectively starts.
