Join us for a workshop on community composting in New York City, led by Lia Lucero from the LES Ecology Center. Get ready for hands-on activities and valuable insights into how composting can help fight food waste—both on an individual level and within a larger, systemic context.

Lia (she/her) is the Community Engagement Manager at the LES Ecology Center, where she leads compost education and training efforts. She has been actively involved in community composting initiatives for over a decade. Lia holds a B.S. in Environmental Studies from the SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry and is certified as a Master Composter and Citizen Pruner. She apprenticed at Earth Matter's Compost Learning Center and received training from the Compost Research and Education Foundation. Lia currently serves as a steering committee member of the Community Composting Coalition, managed by the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.

This workshop will take place in-person at the NYU MakerSpace. Looking forward to seeing you here!
