Governing AI: Building Ethical, Accountable, and Inclusive Systems
As artificial intelligence rapidly reshapes industries, societies, and governance, critical questions emerge about who controls AI, how it is developed, and whether it serves the public good. This session will explore the role of policy, governance, and ethical AI frameworks in ensuring that AI systems are transparent, accountable, and equitable. How can we prevent AI from reinforcing systemic biases and instead train more representative models? What infrastructure is missing to mobilize data and capital at scale while protecting individual and community rights? How can the social sector play a role in shaping AI for the better—beyond Silicon Valley's influence?
Participants will engage in a forward-thinking discussion, imagining the future of AI governance in 2040 and defining the role of social innovators in advocating for responsible technology. Through a collective dialogue, we will explore practical standards for ethical AI, data sovereignty, and accountability in an increasingly automated world.
Key Questions:
What does responsible AI governance look like, and how can policy ensure ethical oversight?
How can we train AI models that are more representative and prevent algorithmic bias?
What missing infrastructure is needed to balance AI-driven efficiency with community rights and sovereignty?
How can social innovators and policymakers shape AI development beyond Silicon Valley’s influence?
What accountability mechanisms should be in place to ensure AI serves the public good rather than corporate interests?
This session will provide a space for interdisciplinary dialogue, bridging ethics, policy, and technology to explore how AI can be governed responsibly for future generations.
