What makes you successful at work sucks the life out of your relationships.

Sounds counterintuitive, right?

In many fields, there are beliefs that are commonly held because they are intuitive, but they are completely wrong. Here are a few:

  • To be successful at work, you work hard.

  • To be successful in design, you focus on aesthetics.

  • To be successful in fitness, it's about maximizing weight.

The correct belief is often counterintuitive:

  • At work, it's not actually about working hard, it's about working smart.

  • In design, it's not about focusing on aesthetics, it's about focusing on usability.

  • In fitness, it's not about maximizing weight, it's about mastering form.

In relationships, there are many commonly held beliefs that you continue believing in because they feel intuitive, but in reality, they are getting in the way and causing unnecessary arguments, headaches, and confusion in your relationships.

In this workshop, you will discover the painful cost of holding on to one of the most intuitive, but insidious beliefs, and instead, discover the ease made possible in your relationships by unlearning this belief.

During the pandemic, Norman helped Stanford co-design a virtual version of the Touchy Feely class. After facilitating and creating learning experiences for companies like Facebook, IDEO, Stanford d.school, Norman teamed up with Stephanie and co-founded Relating Between the Lines, an 8-week program that helps you skillfully navigate conversations with the people you care about most. It's a program to make the most of your relationships for the rest of your life.

In Relating Between the Lines, we are fortunate to have been able to serve students from these companies:
