💞 YOUR HOSTS:

Alyssa Bernal of THE MAARTISTS SALON:

Hello! my name is Alyssa Rea Bernal (she/her)~ both my maternal and paternal lineages have roots in Pampanga, Philippines and in Los Angeles <3 I was born and raised here in Southern California.

We’d probably bump into each other at the local tea house, walking in the park, at a workshop or soundbath! My creativity is currently flowing through writing poetry, dancing Hula, and bringing this gathering series to life! My current creative mission is to translate my deepest desires, needs, and emotions into experiences of learning, care, and creativity. I would describe myself as curious, intuitive, and like a redwood tree~

Peter Villafañe of WALANG HIYA ZINE & SWING SET OPEN MIC:

I'm Peter Villafañe (he/him) and I'm a poet, zinester and double Scorpio based in Los Angeles. My work is informed by my trans identity, Manila roots, and former Myspace addiction. I try to exercise gratitude and community care as spiritual practices and when I'm not writing or hosting open mics, I'm chasing my godkids around the house. I would describe myself as an unyielding optimist who loves being a work in progress.

🧐 PRICE TRANSPARENCY

  • the suggested ticket price of $15 covers the tea house's operating costs and staff to provide us the space at a community rate as well as the tea being provided; please support our favorite local tea house that is an asian woman-owned small business~
