Designing Intentional Booth Experiences w/ IAA + IxDF - Edmonton
Presented by IxDF Edmonton in collaboration with Interactive Arts Alberta
Are you exhibiting at GDX 2025? Join us for a hands-on, UX-informed workshop to help you craft a booth that does more than just display; it connects. Starting with a brief presentation by IAA called "Boothing 101", and ending with a workshop--hosted by a team of UX design experts from IxDF Edmonton--you will learn best practices for not only boothing, but quantitative and qualitative data collection to prove your traction.
In this collaborative session, we’ll reframe booths as designed experiences, guiding you to think about designing an exceptional booth experience, just like you design your games. Whether you're showing off a game, conducting product-market fit analysis, recruiting playtesters, or just aiming to build awareness, this workshop will help you identify your goals, and design ways to elevate your booth as a uniquely engaging experience for your audience.
🧠 What’s in store:
A short talk introducing experience design for exhibition booths
Group discussion on what makes memorable visitor interactions
A hands-on mapping session to plan your booth layout and engagement journey
Peer critique and feedback round to refine your concept
🎯 You’ll walk away with:
A working footprint of your booth
A visitor experience narrative
Clarity on how to engage your audience and measure success through qualitative and quantitative data collection for proof of traction
Everyone in the IxDF Edmonton and IAA communities is welcome, exhibitors, designers, students, and curious observers.
Let’s rethink what it means to “booth” at GDX!
