People Who Thrive
Tonight's event is at capacity! Please email lizwinston2@gmail.com to be notified when registration opens for the November (11/20) People Who Thrive event.
Join People Who Thrive, a new monthly gathering for people going after their goals, in community.
At each meeting, a speaker talks for 10 minutes about a time in their life or their career when they asked for help, and receiving that help had a transformative impact. Then, everyone has one minute to address the group and share their elevator pitch, their “ask” (something they need help with), and an “offer” (a way they can be of service to others). When the floor is open for networking, it’s easy to walk right up to someone you can help or someone who can help you and strike up a conversation.
Hyper-independence is overrated; interdependence is how we make things happen.
On October 23, join the first-ever meeting of People Who Thrive. The speaker for the inaugural meeting is Annmarie Pisano, a partner at Pisano Slater Enterprises, an ethical comms firm serving nonprofits, creatives, and small businesses. Share your elevator pitch, your "ask," and an "offer" with the group, and quickly connect with people you can help and people who want to help you.
Enjoy a self-serve cocktail and mocktail bar while meeting other go-getters who know they can't do it alone.
After the event, you can join the private People Who Thrive slack channel, where everyone can re-state their elevator pitch, ask, and offer after the event, making it easy to follow-up on new relationships and opportunities.
If the event ticket cost prevents you from being able to register, email event organizer Liz Winston at lizwinston2@gmail.com; three tickets are reserved for anyone who does not have the ability to pay at this time.

More about Annmarie Pisano: Annmarie is a partner at Pisano Slater Enterprises, an ethical comms firm serving nonprofits, creatives, and small businesses. She feels most at home surrounded by a digital pile of spreadsheets and six different messaging platforms. A project manager at heart, her best work turns piles of ideas and details into coherent, impactful communications, whether they are video- or text-based, momentary experiences or art meant to last.
In past lives, she has produced documentary films, television commercials, PSA campaigns, and large-scale events. She’s also managed crises and media strategy for major brands, nonprofits, and legal entanglements, and has built an extensive practice focused on reproductive justice. Offscreen, she lives in Brooklyn and drinks a lot of cold brew.
About event organizer Liz Winston: Liz Winston is a Brooklyn-based personal chef by day and an organizer in the disability justice movement by night. She believes strongly that having a community is the difference between whether people thrive (or struggle in isolation), so she's launching People Who Thrive as a monthly event series to create a community for New Yorkers building lives of their own design.
